You might check with Michael Driskell at Third Gen Automotive. He recently told me about a new supplier for brake lining, clutches and pressure plate rebuilds.

Just bought a 9" clutch kit from Vanpelt for my 1933 stock engine.

Joes Antique or Thirdgen also offer comparable products
They all offer good quality made in USA

Yes sir.... sound advice. I've used a few of his to great success.

Ft. Wayne Clutch and Driveline. Not to discredit any of the suggested vendors, they're all great, but I believe Ft Wayne Clutch is the "go to" place in this regard.

Not for 8BA stuff they're not. I found that out from direct experience with them. To me, their whole operation is now suspect. Support the guys who support this forum. They have been mentioned. I'd also add "Southside Obsolete" ("barnfind08" on here). He seems to have NOS everything.

That is what I've been hearing . . . though the last clutches I purchased from them (stocker type stuff) were okay. BUT that was 5+ years ago and the rumors are that they buy the same Chinese stuff that is for sale all over the place and don't custom rebuild them like they used too. I'd be most comfortable with our Barn Approved suppliers --> 3rd Gen, Van Pelt, etc..

I had a core for an 8BA clutch I got from them. I kinda forgot about it for a couple of years, but found it under some junk, saw that it was worth a $20 core refund, and decided to get my $20. Since it had been a while, I called them to see if the return information I had was correct. The person I talked to told that they weren't refunding on cores anymore, and in fact, they didn't even want it back as they were selling only new clutches these days. Out of curiosity, I asked him where they were getting their clutches now. He said, and this is a direct quote, "Oh, some guy named Wong-Fu".

Hi,
As reported by tubman, another barner from down under ... strongly advised NOT TO shop at Ft Wayne since his last two purchases were c*** manufactured in Asia. He had to bin them...
You've been advised !

Ft. Wayne used to be the place to go. That was a few years back. I'd stay away from them now.

I'd had these folks rebuild clutches for me. Outstanding indeed!

Good to hear as I need a clutch plate rebuilt soon . . . have had it for almost 50 years . . . built by "Long Beach Brake and Clutch" - on the recommendations of my first flathead mentor - Joe Reath from Reath Automotive on Cherry Street in Long Beach, CA.
