41 opera coupe questions.
I would like to know how and where Ford installed the opera seats in the 41 fords that were equipped with them? I would also like to know if the front seat in those coupes is the same as a tudor sedan or is it like the 1 in a business coupe? Also did the 1/4 windows in the coupes with opera seats flip out like the long door coupes or were they stationary like the business coupe? Pictures would be helpful too.
thanks Matt

Re: 41 opera coupe questions.
The business coupe is the only one with solid 1/4 windows, the rest tilt out. Also the business coupe is the only one with the hinged (swings up from the bottom) seat. The jump seats folded down in the opera coupe from the side like in a 40. Front seat is split so that some skinny person could get back there.
I saw a 41 at a show with the hinged up seat in the front and jump seats in the back. I guess the passenger had to crawl in thru the front seat??????? |

Re: 41 opera coupe questions.
Does anyone have any pictures of the jump seats in a 41 or even a 40?
thanks Matt

Re: 41 opera coupe questions.
The 40 "opera" jump seats hinged from the side the 41's were bolted to the floorpan riser and folded up to the rear, totally different. The front seat was the same as the club coupe and sedan, pretty rare so sorry no picture.

Re: 41 opera coupe questions.
I owned a '41 "opera" coupe. As noted, the rear seats folded back, against the rear panel. Regarding the front seat, only the seat backs tilted forward; there was no hinge allowing forward pivot of the whole assembly. Access to the rear was a somewhat tight manuver.

Clem, that was a good thing to have your toys right there handy if your date wasn't very friendly! Pretty smart kid!

Re: 41 opera coupe questions.
This link takes a while to load but has some great pictures of a nice short door 41 Super Deluxe Coupe with jump seats. I was looking for pictures on details of dash and underhood
