Default Brumfield Finley

Since I knew "old car guy" M.S. Finley of Waco Texas as a preteen almost sixty years ago, I would be interested to know if that is the Finley of Brumfield Finley. Had a running 1913 Rambler as I recall about 1952.

May have owned Buck's Brake & Clutch Service circa 1954.

Yes that is the Finley. Our association was very brief as he was 41 years my senior and was always too pooped to pop. He made no contributions to the design of the Brumfield Heads. Alzheimers finally got the best of him and he passed away about 10 years ago. He was a good man.

Thanks for that Larry.

Last time I talked to him he had a '20 Stutz and had moved from the Bosque Blvd. house.

I met Mr. Finley when I lived in Waco several years ago. I used to go by his shop and drool over the Model A parts he was restoring. Behind his building was a 28 Fordor that I came close to buying. Didn't have a place to put it as I was restoring a 30 Coupe at the time. He "tumbled" three wheels for me and would take no pay for it. Yes, Larry, he was a very nice man and am sad to hear of his passing.

It's nice to hear the compliments about my dad. We believe that he supplied the original head for the pattern from a police high compression head. We think the head cracked and was cut up for the reproduction head. Larry would know more about this. The original police head was on his 30 Phaeton from what we understand. That car is now owned by my brother Tom in Colorado and still has one of the Brumfield-Finley head on it and is still performing well. He did do the stud upgrade that allows a higher torque on the head nuts. I am currently re-restoring his 35 Phaeton. Those are the only 2 cars that we kept out of his collection. I don't remember where the Stutz Bulldog went. The 13 Rambler went to Pennsylvania. The Chalmers went to Tyler,TX. The Stanley went to Cameron, Tx and then to Temple or Austin, Tx.
