If you have determined the motor to be bad, maybe look here -

The Trico Vacuum type would have been original for a 56 Capri. Vacuum wipers were not ideal without a vacuum booster pump so I can see why someone changed it out. The link from Kultulz may be the way to go but it's not original. The electrics for the previous conversion may have some compatibility.

The electric conversion was done most likely years ago. The motor usually used is a GM TYPE. It will be easier (IMO) just to buy a new conversion kit.

If you can get a really good picture, you might try searching it thru Google Lens. My results are mixed, but I’m a old guy with low computer skills. But I’ve seen people who know what they’re doing make amazing matches. K is probably right, fitting a GM unit from a junkyard were used in a lot of mods for that. Common, cheap, and easy to get to.

Nah, I meant a complete conversion kit made for the car. I gave him an URL. That is what I would do.

He is in France ...

I get that, and I’ve used Newport. Somewhere along the line (lost in the fog) was an article on putting a GM unit under the dash of a Ford to replace the vacuum units. Damn, if I could just remember half of what I used to know.

When I was a student I spent most of my time in junkyards. Time was cheap, and you could pull your own in those days. About all I bought new was plugs, points, and oil filters.

You are correct. The GM motor will fit the same hole as the FORD vacuum motor. I've read accounts the electric motors were GE, TRICO or DELCO. I guess TRICO was the main supplier of vacuum motors during this period.

The complete kit insures he will not be looking for misc. parts on the outskirts of Paris

I seem to remember that the 55 Chevy was the wiper motor to use. Probably 56 and 57 too.

You might contact Studebaker International and see if one of their motors is similar.

Or Myers Studebaker in Duncan Falls, Ohio. You can send them your old one, and be confident that it wont "get lost". If anyone knows what I mean by that.

Don't keep us guessing, what was the application or brand of the wiper motor
