If that's a '32, it has a '34+ floating rear axle. That is an awesome photo though! Here's mine at work. It's about 1900 pounds worth of Pine.

I’m guessing the original rear axle gave up the chase years ago. Don’t believe that truck was ever restored. It sure bounced when the door was tripped and the dirt hit the box. Just one of 3-4 steam shovels operating in the “Sandbox” at the site of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion.

Almost 95* today, miserable for the operator and fireman on the shovel.

That would be put to work at one of the three steam powered sawmills. I need to ask how many board feet of lumber are cut from the donated logs. Most lumber is used for on site construction. Nice looking truck, btw.

The center of gravity of the 1900 pounds of wood is really far back and must have made the steering a light as a feather.

Model 51,

Yes, the steering was quite easy and thankfully it is only about 5 miles of side roads I drove.

Based on trucks I have had over the years, I would say the truck with the lumber is a '34. The full floating rear is one thing, but the cab's beltline also matches a '34 I once owned. The other one is a '32 I found behind a local sawmill. The '32 had an 8ba and the '34 was an original early engine. The '34 is now someone's yard art here on the island, and the '32 is supposedly parked at an entrance to Yellowstone. Maybe at Big Sky?

The hoods and radiator shells are different as well.

So, is the beltline higher on post 32 trucks? If so what is height difference in the beltline to the window on 32 vs 33/34 trucks?.

David mentions the hoods and radiator shells are different too. This suggests the doors are the same. Also, note that the '34 has a secondary beltline stamping on the cab's rear, above the conventional beltline.

It's only the '34 cabs with the extra belt line added on top of those on the back of the cab. The purpose of the addition was to accommodate a higher seat back cushion inside the cab. The doors and what are attached to the doors are common for all three years ('32, '33, and '34) of closed cabs along with the windshield, roof (late '32-'34), and rear window.
