Roadster subframe ???
I'm at the stage where I'm needing sub frame or at least sub rails for my 31 roadster build. I've been looking for original with no luck. I really want original but am I looking for the impossible? Should I just buy Brookville ???

Re: Roadster subframe ???
Most folks that have a relatively rust free body are not going to take it apart and most that are rusty on the sides are gone on the bottom so you may have no choice but to use the reproduction ones. I've purchased them for a 28/29 project and they are good reproduction but they have no holes drilled. This is not necessarily a bad thing. It just requires all the stuff to be fit up before drilling the holes. If the front cowl lower braces are good then at least there is a guide for drilling in a few places. The rest will fall in with fitting of the floor parts, rear quarter panel parts, and the doors. Any hole that is mis-drilled can be welded up for a better start over result.

Re: Roadster subframe ???
Brookville sells a complete sub frame with floors. I asked if the holes were drilled They said they were. I already have a cowl with the sub rail extensions mounted

Re: Roadster subframe ???
FYI,
I believe Coupe sub frames are the same. But I agree, I do not think anyone would remove the sub frame from a good rust free body. Chris W. |

Part of the Coupe sub rails are the same with the exception of the portion along the doors and rear quarters. Chris W. |
