Wate pump rebuild
I am working on rebuilding my water pump and have 2 questions.
1. The cup that goes into the pump housing in the front covers up the hole for grease by about 75%. I looks like I can run a small drill bit down the grease fitting hole to make a cutaway in the steel cup to allow better greasing. Is that a good idea or not. 2. On the other end of the pump the channel for that grease fitting goes all the way to the edge of the hole where the rear bushing goes in. If I then run the washer down to seat around the rim of the hole it will not seat flat in that area where the grease channel is. Instructions for the leakless pump says to cut away a bit of the channel. Any suggestions on the best way to do that? I appreciate the help Thanks Mort |

Re: Wate pump rebuild
1) Not really necessary since usually greasing is done with the engine running however if it will make you feel better, it probbaly won't hurt anything. When the belt is tensioned correctly, there is very little pressure.
2) With an end mill. |
