Default Very thick leather door check strap.

Got a pair from Bratton's,very thick almost a 1/4" thick,Made in India. We can't even do leather now? I know the eight holes they punch in them are for folding over on ends for extra reinforcement I guess but how can you ever fold over 1/4" thick and that short of an end? Just cut off the extra holes? Some of this stuff I did 54 years ago on my first roadster and I do not remember than issues like this. I think all on the market are probably Vintique.

I went to pick some up yesterday and they were out, but looked at them on a display board. Vintique product did not look too bad, but I think I will look for a perfect old belt at the flea and make my own. I have an old Pfaff machine that I can sew leather on.

I had a strap from Brattons and as you say it was stiff. The thing wound rub and poke my leg when I drove.

I bought a leather strap and made my own.

This is what I bought and it is very flexible. 6-7 oz weight

Thank you for the information.Did you use the 1 1/2" wide or the 1 3/4" inch wide and cut it down to 1 5/8" ? My upholstery is over 50 years old but good shape not original but looks like the strap that says it is Old English so that will be perfect.

I felt the same as you when I saw it------"You have to be kidding." I just cut the outer pair of holes off.
