351 backfire

This weekend, my 351W (in a boat) fired up, (turned over pretty slowly), and backfired lightly a couple of times while revving up. The last time, backfired pretty good, and stopped. Wouldn't restart. Carb is new, fuel tank is new, and all lines and filters have been changed. Motor ran well last weekend.
