1936 cabriolet outer trunk lid hinges
Did the 1936 ford Cabriolets Club Coupes have there own style chrome outer trunk lid hinges. I can’t seem to find reproductions of this part. Thanks.

Re: 1936 cabriolet outer trunk lid hinges
I am not aware that they ever had trunks and always had rumble seats.

I have a Cabriolet Club Coupe which has a trunk instead of a rumble seat and a back interior seat. Check out the differences online you will see what I mean. I can’t find a reproduction of the outer chrome trunk lid hinges.

Re: 1936 cabriolet outer trunk lid hinges
A 36 body parts book should tell you if that hinge has a different part number then the humpback trunk lid or any other body. Would at least tell you if you had other options. My 50s hot rod 32 5w has 36 trunk lid hinges on the decklid, probably was common back then.

Thanks fellas for your info and pictures.
I guess the best thing for me is to rechrome the pair I have. I don’t think there are reproductions being made. Thanks again. |

On an off chance you might contact Wescott's in Oregon. They are making some parts that are not common to other parts dealers. Karl Wescott is a member of this forum.

I have a sample of one side. A quick survey suggests it will not be that difficult to 3D Cad model. Finding the time to play with it is the issue. (and without any possibility of significant sales that is play time, not work time).

Re: 1936 cabriolet outer trunk lid hinges
Hi,
I have a plated pair for my 1936 Club Cabriolet BUT as you might imagine these are EXTREMELY rare. In about 12 years of looking for a pair at Hershey and elsewhere I have never seen one. If you have two, I'd get them plated. I've known my plated for years and I told them to guard them with his life. He did a great job filling pits and plating them. Good luck, Bruce
