94 Accel pump assembly
I am struggling with re-assembly of a 94. I can't seem to get the actuating lever between the throttle arm and accel pump rod to pop into the accel pump rod. The spring loaded pin in the rod seems to keep resisting my best efforts so far. Any tips ? Photo

Re: 94 Accel pump assembly
Wobble it around as you shovea-ita-inna.
(Stop sniggering at the back, there). Put a bit of oil in the hole, it has a detent that has to move aside to allow the pin to enter. It might be a bit dry/tight. Poke something like a jewellers screwdriver in there and check that the detent can move freely, springing back freely also. Mart. |

Re: 94 Accel pump assembly
Thank you. The spring loaded gizmo in the accel pump rod works ok, goes up & down with a push, I lubricated, and it still resists going in. That why I posted the issue.I will give the woggle around, shove it inna treatment, and see what happens. Russ

Re: 94 Accel pump assembly
Yeah, push it in while rotating it back and forth. Once you get it in, just pull it out far enough to engage it in the desired hole at the bottom. I normally go for the middle hole as a start point. Use a pair of pliers to get a good grip at the end with the stud.

Put some hair around the hole you select....

Re: 94 Accel pump assembly
What I ended up doing is bending a heavy staple into an L shape, grabbed the end with the needle nose vise grips, inserted the L in the back of the rod hole, and depressed the spring loaded gizmo as I pushed the lever in place. Worked like a charm, once I got my brain in gear.
