Default 2 Brush Generator Parts Source

2 Brush 6 v Generator: 81A-10000 D.
Where to go for the retainers, and washers and circlip which locate at front bearing area?
The felt retainer which fits at the washer, what is the purpose of these?
Thanks,
Phil NZ

Phil, maybe the best source for those small generator parts is to have old spare generators on the shelf. They are fairly easy to find. The felt washer was called an oil seal, one on each side of the bearing. Was it there to keep bearing lube in the bearing or to lube the bearing by having some oil in it or was it a dust seal to keep dust out. I believe it is a dust seal which is not really required if a modern double sealed bearing is used. I usually refit the felt seals anyway. Regards, Kevin.

Thanks Kevin for your clarification on that one. Fitting a double sealed bearing so will check out the old one but if I'm short of felt its no big issue?
