pretty sure its a 38 and yes it is worth the effort to cut it out of the brambles, looks complete, never know till you get it to where you can check it out. more pictures when you clear it out please.

If the grill has 3 vertical bars in the center / with a V8 logo up top ,,its a 38 if it has an ashtray next to the gauges its a 38 cab . people switch grills,,,some say the 38s are prettier. If you get it out of those" Wizard of OZ" trees ,,I need a winshield crank knob. good luck ! MP

The grill shown is a 39, since there is no V8 at the top of the center. It also has the 39 hood latch on it...the 38 is a bit more art-deco and is not smooth on top. The really quick ways to make sure the front clip was not changed out is to see if the windshield regulator handle comes out of the top of the dash (39) instead of the front (38)or look at the inside of the doors....if the doors have a metal inside panel instead of a fabric covering, it is 39. The 38 had an ashtray in the dash as someone else mentioned, but those could be added to a 39...changing out the doors, dash rail, hood latch, and grill would be less likely.

If you're going to part it out send me a PM I would be interested in some of the parts. I am restoring a 39 pickup.
OldandTired did a great job listing the differences in 38-39 pickups. From what I can see of the grille, looks to be a 39. Do you have anymore pictures? Last edited by Seth Swoboda; 08-01-2011 at 08:55 AM. Reason: spelling |

LOL, if you get that truck cut out of the brush and can send more pics that would be great. Still interested in some parts. What kind of tree is that anyway? Looks to be dead.

If I were close I'd head over with the chain saws and the bobcat. The brush around my house doesn't yield old fords, lol!!
