Re: What is this "A of the Day"?
No, its not my cup of tea either. Why criticize though, the owner must be proud of his car or he wouldn't have sent it in to MAFCA. Yes they are struggling to get pictures of our A's. This is an outlet to show off our cars to others. We need to sent in our pictures. Most of us are savvy enough to post on The Ford Barn so take the time and send your pictures to MAFCA. No I'm not affiliated if MAFCA other than being a member since 1974. We need to support our hobby and one another. There are to many out there trying to destroy or regulate us out of existence.

Your eye sight is good, it's your calendar that is off. It was the A of the day for the 22nd of August and you were looking at it on the 24th.

Re: What is this "A of the Day"?
Actually, there were 2 different bodys and manufacturers in the 70's of replicas. One , as mentioned here, was the Glassic which produced Phaeton bodies and the other was Shay which manufactured Roadster bodies using Pinto running gears. I don't know what running gears the Glassic used, I have no first hand knowledge of them.

Re: What is this "A of the Day"?
This from the "Glassic Annex" website: http://glassicannex.org/history.htm
Approximately 1600 fiberglass-bodied replicas of 1931 Model A Fords were made by the Glassic Company in West Palm Beach Florida. They were manufactured between about 1966 and 1981, at first using International Scout four-cylinder engines and chassis, changing in 1972 to Mustang 302 cubic inch V-8 engines and specially built frames.

And a pocket history of Shay Replicas. http://www.shayhistory.com/HistoryShay.html
There is a link to the grandson's examination of the business - but it's longer and more of a business read. Joe K

ONe more. Here is the interior of a Shay Roadster currently for sale in Vermont.
Sort of a let down. Doesn't know what it wants to be? Joe K

Re: What is this "A of the Day"?
A buddy of mine has a Shay Roadster which he as painted up as a 30's Pan Am vehicle. He would love to have a real Model A, but the Shay was all he could afford. He gets real sheepish at events where people are fascinated by the "Model A." There apparently is an enthusiast group for both the Glassic and Shay vehicles.

I'm sorry, but those two things are just nasty. Hurts to even look at one. Only thing AS bad would be seeing Oprah or Rosie O'Donnell, in their underwear

They did a pretty good job making an "ANNIVERSARY CAR" considering they couldn't infringe on Ford's designs. Yes, I know that's a Jeep instrument cluster, now, why didn't I think of that, instead of big bucks for a quality repro? I consider the Shay as sort of a CARICATURE of a Model A 10 years ago I almost bought a Shay, with Automagic, I know I could have had fun with it & It scurried down the freeway nicely & I passed 6 big rigs in a row & didn't even git blown off the road!
