Default Early Ford V8 Club 2023 Grand National Meet

As many of you know, every five years the Early Ford V8 Club stages a Grand National Meet and it's that time again next year in June (the 11th through the 17th) in Dearborn, immediately prior to the famous Motor Muster held at Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford. The Club will be celebrating its 60th year Golden Jubilee with events only Ford's hometown can offer.

Early registration forms are available on the Club's website (earlyfordv8.org) starting today (under Upcoming Events in the left hand column of the home page).

Thanks for the heads up, David.
I'd just now printed off the requisite pages and will send mine in tomorrow.
My plan is to bring a number of cars.

I am really looking forward to this meet!

David, thank you for posting this information. Arrived home from the Eastern National Meet in Tennessee this past Wednesday, and already looking forward to attending the '23 Grand National Meet in Dearborn Michigan next June. Based on the ad in the latest May/June V-8 Times, it sounds like some great events, tours, and other attractions have been planned for the '23 meet. Will be mailing my registration this coming week.

Guys,
Thanks for the gentle shove. I will begin the process. Cheryl is interested. Hopefully I can get John K (42 Deluxe) and his wife to join us also.
Guess that would mean I need to get busy and work on the truck a little. One thing I will not be doing, like a lot of others attending is polishing! Sorry just not going to happen to the ragged ol' truck.
Regards,
Chris

All you have to be is a member in good standing of the Early Ford V-8 Club.
You don't need a vehicle to be a member, only an interest. The definition of a Club is an group of people with a common interest. No where does it say you have to own anything.

About 6 miles south of I-90.

You do not need to bring a V8 car/truck to the meet. There will be plenty of folks there to let you ride in one of theirs.

In recent years, about 60% of EFV8 National Meet attendees register a vehicle. About 40% just come for the fun.

I love that truck just the way it is now. That was the first vehicle I spotted when I arrived at the Marriott Hotel in Franklin.

Just got my email confirmation for attending the Grand National Meet. I plan to finish my '35 truck and show it for the first time. I've been to 9 meets without an EFV8, so as long as all goes according to plan, I'll be part of the show.
Also, my '35-'36 truck book will be done, printed and should be for sale at the GNM too.
I'm really looking forward to this event next year.

If you do not have a car and contemplating buying one or are restoring one, I highly recommend you attend a national meet and sign up for judging in the category you're interested in. I learned an awful lot being a judge but unfortunately it was after my car was finished. I wanted a driver but tried to get things as correct as possible. By judging you learn what judges look for and also network with knowledgeable people.

I had a great time on the judging team and learn things I never thought to ask. Also, the aluminum-bodied 9N tractor was amazing.

Once the book comes out, I'll be happy to sign anyone's copy.

"The long wait!!" ??

Which long wait:
1. For the mail to arrive?
2. For the check to clear?
3. For the meet to begin?

The meet is only 359 days away. We will see if #1 or #2 takes longer.

Counting the days....

Redneck,

I live 328 miles from the front door of the hotel. Your house is 325 miles. I guess you are right - walking distance. We can be there by lunch.

Ken

Which long wait:
1. For the mail to arrive?
2. For the check to clear?
3. For the meet to begin?

The meet is only 359 days away. We will see if #1 or #2 takes longer.

Counting the days....
All three, with great anticipation!!!

Is the 2023 Grand National Meet going to be at the same host hotel that it was 5 years ago ?

No, it will be at the Doubletree, about 1.5 miles north.

I had seen where the old Hyatt sold and was going to be converted into an apartment building! I was wondering where we would end up?

For those that remember the Munster house in the television show of the same name.........picture was taken April of 2021.

It used to be a fine place to stay.

I can't believe that the Edward Hotel in Dearborn has fallen into disrepair.
It was a great place to stay in 2018.

The warts were there, just mostly hidden. I suspect that the land still belongs to Ford Land and that it is only the building structure that has an uncertain future. The big Sears store across the inner roadway is history as well. In the meantime, the land serves as a vast parking lot for unfinished F-150s awaiting for the rest of their electronic gear to arrive and be installed.

It was a GREAT place to stay in 1993, 1998, 2003 and 2008.

I remember being assigned a room in 2018 and when we opened the door -- there was nothing. No furniture, no bed, no bathroom facilities. (no sink, no toilet, no bathtub/shower)

The Edward in Dearborn. It was not too shabby back in 2018?

Great Views from the Edward in Dearborn. Notice Ford Motor Company Head Quarters on The American Road in the distance.

I made a trip to Dearborn in 2017 to spend time at The Henry Ford, spent three days at the museum. Traveled round a bit too, drove by "Fairlane" and was sad at the disrepair at that time. Went to the old Hyatt, now the Edward and found four whole cars in the parking lot! I was certainly surprised since I attended the 2008 Grand National Meet there and had a teriffic time and the hotel was great! I was also shocked to see what the City of Dearborn had become since 2008. With that said, I still hope to attend the 2023 Grand National Meet at the Doubletree.
