Looks like the one on the right has been cut off on the bottom.

It is interesting to see that the "tabs" on each side of the Crank Handle Hole are is a different position between these two illustrations? Are you sure that they are supposed to be the same item?

Yes, there were two versions of grille splash pans for 35 pass cars. The pan on the left is mid to late year production. The early version is not shown. The pan on the right is not correct for 35, and it looks as though it has been cut up, possibly from another year pan. Bob Drake is/or was reproducing a version of the 35 grille pan.

Note that in the "cut up one" , the crank hole index is 12 and six o'clock instead of 3 and Nine o'clock as is usually standard Ford.

ALSO Ball & Chain
The Inner fender aprons are different depending on "early" & "Late" so if you are going for correctness and have the inner fender aprons you need to match the correct grill apron!!! Again for "Correctness"

.....and if going for correctness on a '35 Ford..... the large top tank radiator goes with the early to mid year grille splash pan, and the small top tank radiator goes with the late year grille splash pan. Plus there are early and late lower radiator shields to consider. All of this is covered in the Early Ford V-8 Club of America 1935 - 36 Ford Book by Don Rogers and John Swanberg. An excellent book to own if you are working on a '35 or '36 Ford.

John,

It isn't quite that straightforward as according to the engineering releases for both radiators the large top radiator continued to be used throughout the '35 model year at assembly plants whose output was destined for southern climates and the small top radiator was used primarily in assembly plants whose output was destined for northern climates. This meant that the respective grille aprons both continued to be used throughout the model year given that their principle difference is their accommodation of the radiator drain pipe which differed between the two radiators.

David, I guess it never is quite straightforward when discussing the manufacture of these Early Fords built in different plants, in different parts of the USA, and in other countries as well. Plus you have the use up of existing parts factor when it came to changes to parts on the assembly lines. This is one of the reasons that judging these vehicles at national meets can be difficult for many of us. Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks For the responses guys! My car isn't very "correct" it was made in march but it has louvered inner fenders and small tank rad. So ill probably buy whatever pops up, since all i have is this cut down one that was in the trunk when I got it.
