Default 35 ford driveshaft

I've got a 65 mustang rearend I want to put in my 35 along with posies dropped frontend with lincoln style brakes. I'm keeping my wire wheels and flathead along with trans. Are there any major problems going from the trans to the 65 mustang rearend as far as the drive shaft goes?

You will have to go to open driveline. Why are you changing the rearend?

As mr.will says you need to go to an open drive conversion on the transmission. What are you going to use to locate your axle? 4bar or are you going to use parallel leaf springs? You will need to use wire wheel supports on the rear mustang drums too.

Further to that stated by my learned friend Mr Weemark, the wire wheels will need an adaptor to fit the mustang drums/hubs. It will need to be about 1-1/4" thick and also incorporate a raised support ring for the wire wheel.

To be honest, all in all it doesn't sound like a great idea to me.

Mart.

The 35/36 rear axle is a very good set up. If you still have it then it will be easy to sell or trade it but it will work fine for even an extensively warmed up flathead V8. If you going to street rod the thing, you might consider one of the narrow versions of the Ford 9-inch. The light duty Falcon and Mustang stuff wouldn't be my first choice.

Mart you are correct sir, I forgot the mustang bolt pattern will be different than that of the wires

^^ Not only the bolt pattern mismatch but the wire wheel will foul the drum long before the rear face meets the flat face where the studs are.
