Default Installing Flashers on my Model A Question.

Just a dumb question to confirm something that crossed my mind while working on the flasher install.

I got one of those flasher kits that clamps to the steering column and has that red button emergency system on it.

Can you use a 12 volt flasher cannister on a 6 volt system or for that matter a
6 volt cannister on a 12 volt system???

Thanks, Russ.

Mechanical flashers will not work with mixed voltages. 12 on a 6 system they may never flash and a 6 on a 12 system will flash rapidly if not burn out.

No is the short answer on thermally operated flashers.
Aren't the sockets different?
I guess there is a reason for that.
For a once every five years or more investment, I would think installing the proper one makes sense to me, anyway.

Not on any switch I've ever installed or worked on.

There are two-terminal flashers and three-terminal flashers, each available in 6 or 12 volt.

Almost all switches have an indicator bulb which must also be the correct voltage.
