Greenfield Village
What week/weekend would you go if you could only go to once.
I'm already planning forward for next years vacation.

Re: Greenfield Village
Dress warm but we went on Halloween weekend, and secured quarters at the 'on museum' property's Bed and Breakfast. Can walk everywhere.
You'll need two days. One to tour the outdoor area and buildings. A second day for the indoor museum. Be sure not to miss the 'book store'. If you can, plan on a third day. Bring lots of money. Henry still has his hand out. Here I am talking to one of the 'Hired Hands' in the back lot. skip. |

Re: Greenfield Village
I liked 4th of July weekend, but that has already past. They do a fireworks show at night and you get tickets to be IN the park for it.

Re: Greenfield Village
Well, there is NO bad weekend. . .
Check their schedule for special events, there's usually quite a bit going in through the year. If you see something you like, go for it. If you don't mind crowds, pick a weekend in the summertime. Lots of families, i.e. kiddies, and there's lots for 'em to do both in the Museum and the Village. If you want a bit quieter less crowded time, consider mid September or later, after school starts. We've done both, when the kids were home, and then just the wife and me. Never had a bad experience at Henry's Place. |

Stay at the Dearborn Inn right near Greenfield Village where Henry Ford's friends stayed. At first look it is expensive, but it includes two days of tour tickets to the Village and the Museum so it is no more expensive than other hotels. The Dearborn Inn is very nice! Take a tour to the north too if you have time. The Ford wood mill is in Alberta, Michigan on the Upper Peninsula and is exactly like it was when production ceased in the early 50's. I am in Minnesota and we are proud of our state but Michigan is Absolutely Beautiful. |
