Default '28 Tudor tail light

What is the correct location of the tail light on a 1928 Tudor? This is an AR car if that makes a difference.

The reason I ask is that our tail light is fender mounted however there are three threaded holes in the lower edge of the body on the left side that look like it had something mounted at one point.

There is a bracket that mounts in the three holes on the body. The dealers sell a good repro. But your tail light is incorrect for that bracket it uses a different assembly sometimes called a tuna can because of it's shape. A&L makes these and they are an excellent repro, but more expensive than the tea cup shape light.

Actually our tail light is a Hella brand which may be original to the car. This car is a European model which was brought into the US with a returning GI after WWII. We suspect that it was manufactured in Denmark since they required semaphores at the time and this car still had them mounted. The electric wiper motor is also a Hella brand. I'm not sure how to identify any other differences yet.

I'm not sure if the European assembled cars had the tail light mounted on the fenders to meet regulations over there. I suspected that the three holes on the lower body were for a tail light bracket but I have seen many pictures of 1928 cars with fender mounted lights.

The other factor is mounting the taillight on passenger side or right side of the car, is this left or right drive? I don't know exactly when Ford started production in Europe so this might be a modified car to meet Europe standards.

If your 28 Tudor is left hand drive, and the mounting holes are on the left rear of the body, I have an original Tudor mounting bracket that I would make available to you. I also have a complete tuna can tail light with original license plate bracket and wiring plug,
