Pilot “Bearing” Or “Bushing” Which Do You Prefer?
Was just wondering which you guys prefer, the clutch pilot bearing, or the bronze pilot bushing?

I use the bearings with the 2 rubber seals. Dirt cheap. I bought a lot of 10 last time. Always good to have one on hand.
6203-2rs is the generic name. 40mm OD 17mm bore 12mm width. Mart. |

Very common bearing, used in starters, generators, motorcycle front axle, washing machine motors, etc. 6203 is the bearing size. the suffex letters indicate the shield design.
The whole world used metric sizes and did not know it. Bruce

Correction, I need the pilot bearing to fit the flywheel with a T-5 transmission.

For those wanting a bushing, here is a link to Vern Tardel's site. I believe these are NOS French military items.

I've sold a large number of T5 conversion kits all with bronze pilot bushings. Failures have been minimal. Usually an installation problem.

I use both depending on what I have in the drawer at any given time.

Re: Pilot “Bearing” Or “Bushing” Which Do You Prefer?
I prefer using a ball bearing as the pilot. I was fortunate enough to work for a company that used millions of ball bearings in manufacturing their products, so I was able to stock up on the best ball bearings made that will work as that EFV8 pilot bearing. I made a post here on this subject years ago that is hopefully still in the archives with all the pictures still available. I don't have time at the moment to search for it, but I know others here are good at doing that.

How about a bushing/bearing combo for a T5.

Re: Pilot “Bearing” Or “Bushing” Which Do You Prefer?
It seems like an evenly mixed bag. There’s a bronze bushing in mine now, but I did order a few of the 6203-2rs… we’ll see when I get to that point. I’ll measure it and see how worn it is compared to input shaft size….
