Smile two weeks tour mid winter

Well, we survived our two weeks touring of the South Island of New Zealand in the still untested speedster.
Our first leg down the North Island was wet and miserable as was the return leg up the North Island, but we were lucky to strike superb, if cold weather in the South Island.
An occasional miss had us mildly concerned and there appeared to be a very weak spark on #1 cylinder.
A replacement distributer cap and leads made no difference, but as the miss only occurred rarely, we plugged on with the car pulling strongly and happy to cruise for mile after mile at 62 mph when road conditions allowed.
We had a 1930 Hotchkiss, 1919 Lancia Kappa and another Model A speedster for company.
Limited suspension travel with the dropped front axle and lowered rear suspension proved a problem on very rough roads with the suspension bottoming out on pot-holes and sudden changes in the roads surface.
Finally, only 30 miles from home after 2500 miles, the miss became permanent and we came to a halt with no spark and came home on the back of a truck.
There's now a long list of minor repairs and improvements to be done, but on the whole we're delighted with the car.
