Re: Steering wheel light switches
Thank you Tom. I will have to order a spider but will post on here when I get it all back together (fingers crossed). I will also get the tool if you think that will help with the reinstall.

Re: Steering wheel light switches
I haven't used the tool, but it looks like it would help. I push the spider up and use a small pencil magnet to lower the clip into place. It can be hard on the hand though.

Re: Steering wheel light switches
I used Tom's trick with the yardstick holding down the horn / light switch. Works great! It's like having a second pair of hands.

Re: Steering wheel light switches
You might consider ordering up several extra "C" clips. They are cheap and very hard to find when everything goes flying while trying to get everything installed.

Re: Steering wheel light switches
Just be sure to prefit them to the spider and to the rod notch before you spend a half hour fighting a no fit problem, like I did a few years ago.

Re: Steering wheel light switches
I was wondering about the grease in the photos as well. In my mind grease and electricity do not play well together and when you are only starting with 6V to begin with I would think there would be a voltage drop as it worked it's way through the grease.

goosloony, I still have the coupe. I have only owned it for about 4 1/2 months. Love it!

Gooseloony,
There is a Model A Club in Fresno...Are you aware of that? Maybe someone in the club can give you a hand. Pluck |

Re: Steering wheel light switches
The spider should fit easily over the square light rod, some of the new repo spider are tight and WILL break the ears when you try to force it over the rod, take a small flat file and file the ID of the spider until it slides over the rod. Ask me how I know this.
