Default Turlock, CA 51st Annual Swap Meet

Barn Friends and others,

This is one of the bigger Swap Meets on the West Coast.

January 28th and 29th 2017.

Come by and say hello, also hope I may have some "A" parts you might need.

I am in Building #1, Space #1.

If the weather is bad at least me and my parts will stay dry.

They will also have the food area open at the East end of the building which happens to be across from my space #1.

Have a good day,

Ron Rude

Hope I can make it over this year. Plenty of carbs available (March '31)? Bldg 1, site 1 easy to remember

I'm hoping to make it this year. I haven't made it there since the 90's!

How about an address or flier for this since I know where Turlock is, but been awhile since I been there.

Might be able to make the trip, just finished overheat proofing my A.

I have not made it there since the Modesto A's started it - Marshall Lewis was a big name then. Then it was at the country Fair Grounds. Entry was free, and a space cost $5.

So now, after all these years, I may be able to once again make it to this iconic 'Trade Show'. With that in mind, I would like to be brought up to date on a few things.

Is it still held at the Fair Grounds south of Modesto?

What is today's entrance fee to attend?

What does it cost for a 'Space'?

What are the hours of operation.

Will it rain?

I understand they have built a new Freeway (5) down there now, but I think my old HiWay 99 will still work for me - or will Interstate 5 work better?

And the BIG question - will there be 'Tule Fog' on the road down?

You're welcome, Doug. I've been going every year since the 1980's...that one and Portland, OR. Always some good, rusty metal to see.

Yeah Dick - there used to be the big 3 - Turlock, Portland, and Long Beach. I don't hear too much about Long Beach anymore. These events have become such a complicated and work-intensive event to put on that it largely depends on the energy level and number of 'spark plugs' - the work-horses that every organization needs to keep it alive. Did I hear it said that after 50 or so years, that Hershey (Pennsylvania) Swap Meet has closed down and no longer the car heaven of the East Coast and Mid-West?

Doug,

Don't forget about the Big 3 Parts Exchange February 24, 25 and 26 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. http://big3partsexchange.com/

Thank you Dave. I had not heard of "The Big 3 Parts Exchange", so I am glad you alerted the Ford Barn Forum for those who live nearby. As you know, a great many of those on the Forum own multiple marques and have a wide range of automotive interests. The 'Big 3 Parts Exchange' sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon for those who live near San Diego, California

Doug,

I keep this link and others on my Favorites on my browser. I also like the Good Guys Car Show and Swap Meet at Del Mar Horse Race Track. Mostly hot rods but they do have antique cars as well as Porsches, my other passion. I think Good Guys has a show in Sacramento as well. Much closer to you.

Qualcomm is a good site but you have to walk up and down hills. Del Mar Race Track is flat and would be easier on my old feet.

G14 on the grass near the turnstiles, rain, or shine. The guy might have an extra hotlink on the fire at noon.
