Default what model b head gasket for model a block with 1,25 piston?

my model a engine has 1,25 piston in it, (it is being overhauled now).
but i will use synders 5.5:1 head, when the engine is done.
and i need ford model b head gasket that allow 1,25 piston. what can i use in model b gasket?

if i cant find model b gasket that allow 1,25 piston, then i can use my Stock model a head, with felpro 7013C gasket?

This engine belongs to my ford model a 1929 pickup closed cab.

Snyder's 5.5 head is not a B style head. You need to use a Model A gasket on a Model A motor, no matter what head you use. Use a Fel-Pro 7013 R3 or 4.

it says on the link that you have to use b ford gasket?
http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/1069
You must use the 1932-34 "B" style head gasket with this cylinder head.

be sure whatever gasket you use fits the head without over-hanging. original b gaskets were narrower around the center studs and would not properly fit the a engines. this could cause hot-spots and detonation.

If you look at brattons 5.5 head on there catalog web site It just says to torque to 65lb . It doesn't say anything about what head gasket to use. I'm' just going by what they say on there web site.

That is incorrect. I have installed probably 40 or 50 of these and always use a Model A gasket. Never had a problem.
Besides, there is only 2 steam holes difference in a Model A and a Model B gasket anyway. This recommendation is just to sell that krappy, expensive composite gasket. Use the copper clad Model A gasket and spray it with copper coat spray.

James,

I hate to disagree with you but also the Model B gasket conforms to the Model B combustion chamber and the Model A gasket conforms to the Model A combustion chamber. The difference is slight but in one case you have gasket hanging out into the combustion area and the other you have a space that is likely to collect carbon. The bottom line, how much does difference does it make, I don't know.

I agree with Jim brierley in post # 8 . The Snyders heads do use the heart shaped model B style combustion chamber . Snyders sells both model A and B style head gaskets in the silicone coated style. This is not a ploy to sell the modern style gasket as the modern style gasket is offered in both A and B combustion chamber styles . The Felpro 7013 C r3 is a large bore style gasket that can be used with both A and some other B style combustion chamber heads. I use the 7013 C r3 gasket with my BF heads because it was the recommended gasket. Snyder recommends the B style gesket with their heads. All heads with B STYLE combustion chambers are not exactly the same but can vary slightly. There are other B gaskets that can be used with the Snyder heads besides the silicone version.

I agree with Jim but several others, that I respect, have expressed different opinions. Even the Green Bible lists the B gasket as a replacement '28-'31.

The model B gasket can be used with the model A head and doesn't overhang into the combustion chamber, not so when the model A gasket is used with the model B head. It all depends on the shape of the combustion chamber . What the green bible says is true but doesn't necessarily apply to aftermarket heads that may have a slightly different shape. Most of the higher compression heads that are now offered use the heart shaped combustion chamber but are not exact in dimension.
