Old Ford resting place
Took some photos recently while visiting a friend who's been stashing old cars for awhile. I thought I would share a few.

Re: Old Ford resting place
The barns are only so big, and that's where the good stuff is kept. He says some of these he pulled out of creek beds, junk yards, etc. Too bad it's so wet here.

Re: Old Ford resting place
They just had long, medium, and short wheel base trucks. Most larger trucks were 1 1/2 ton. There was an in between large pickup that was between 3/4 & 1 ton but they had a Timken rear axle.
I've seen guys resurect worse examples than that coupe body is. |

Fred, thank u for sharing. What a cool place. Not many moss yards left. I'm happy I'm not his neighbor and so is he! LOL.

Re: Old Ford resting place
Just like a lot of other "collectors" - keeps until they rot to nothing or get crushed when they pass.

Re: Old Ford resting place
I am in the process of helping him sell some stuff as he is now interested in letting go of certain things. These are like some kind of strange "art" to me even though they are wasting away. I have already sent many of his parts far and wide and hope to salvage more for guys like us who also want to preserve them. Glad some of you enjoyed the pictures, sorry to upset others.

These photos would be great for a calendar project - Neglected Fords from the past.

Re: Old Ford resting place
My daughter lived in Coos Bay for a time and then north to Rockaway Beach. It only takes 20 years for a car to completely disappear beneath blackberry vines. I was always disappointed coming from Nevada where everything is open to the naked eye, nothing hidden. That guy should advertise in photo mags as a destination. Pay $80 to come in and take pictures. Which raises another question. Why do we photogs get drawn to dereliction? Everybody wants to photograph mossy things. Pretty color with our digital cams I suppose.

Re: Old Ford resting place
A local urban legend near here goes as:
A person purchased a property (this is about 10 miles from us) with the back 15 or so acres in 20 foot tall blackberry bushes (yes they really grow that high). They decided to clean it up and found an old shed completely covered. And behind the shed, also completely covered was a 1955-56-57 Chevy convertible with dealer plates and less than 100 miles on the odometer. Of course the car was totally rusted with virtually nothing salvageable, and the plates came back with a police report that the car had been stolen from the dealer when new! |

Re: Old Ford resting place
Might be a Hudson somewhere and he probably would part with it. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm there gold mining. There is stuff literally hanging everywhere! It's a fun place to hang out, and he's a great guy.
