Thanks for letting me live thru my fellow barners
I just want to say thanks to all you Barners. Since I got Ol Walter a couple of years ago seems like money became a bit hard to come by. I feel bad cause I do little but lift his cover and brush him off a bit now and then and dream. I enjoy all of the rebuild stories and I'm taking it all in. Walter is still destined to be a 31 Huckster someday. At least if I check up on the Barn I feel as if I'm still at least doing research for when I can get some work done again.
Everyone keep up with the stories and pic's. Thanks again. |

James, I think a lot of us get similar support from this site. Sometimes it's information, sometimes reinforcement, sometimes encouragement, sometimes camaraderie, sometimes just getting us through winter when we can't drive our cars or even get out to the garage. Hang in there; Ol' Walter will still be there when you can get to him, and The Barn will be here to help anyway we can.

Having a Model A or just the interest in them is the main thing, you don't have to have a finished car to enjoy the hobby. Bob

"Dreamed" and looked for about seven years before finally being able to purchase one (again) about 2 years ago. Hang in there.

Re: Thanks for letting me live thru my fellow barners
You are not alone, James. If it's not money, it's something else. In my case, my eyes are going, which makes doing just about anything with the A a challenge. I have decided to keep my car, because it makes me happy. Months go by with me doing nothing more than dusting her off and I have resolved myself to that pleasure.
The other thing that came to mind is the seemingly new popularity of "just leaving her alone"... pretty cars are common... the cars that show their age have gained a new popularity. So whatever condition it is in, enjoy the car. If you do find yourself with a bit of spendable money, make it safe and enjoy it as is. Richard |

Re: Thanks for letting me live thru my fellow barners
Sorry to hear you can not fund your project at the moment , Try not to let it get you down.
If I can make a sugestion ; Are there any Barners or Model A people in your area ? It might be an idea to offer to help any of them that are doing any restoration work on there cars. While helping them you will be gaining good experience & knowledge that will help you restore your own car when funds allow, You will meet like minded friends who will probably be very glad to help you in the future and probably inherit a few spare parts that are no good to them but might be just what you need for your car. Believe me a willing helping hand is a rare commodity!! There are lots of jobs that are easier for 2 people to do than 1 on your own I hope this is some help John |

James
Ja - It might be enough money on this planet, but for sure its in the wrong hands and used for the wrong projects.... I grew 50 till i bought my first "A". For sure i will keep it for the next 50 years (lol) and i got to regain the lost years. Sadly, right now im standing in a mountain of (rear axle-) bits and pieces and it amazing how much junk in the axle did not keep the car from running. Even just turning one screw a day will bring her back to the street (someday) Work on - Dream on - Have Fun Christoph |
