Default Holes in frame

Hello,

On my car's frame the two "horns" at the very front each have a pair of 1/4" holes in the top surface. You can see them here: http://31ford.dougbraun.com/frame_work/IMG_4400

Are these found on some or all frames? They appear to be original on mine. Do they have any function? None of the fender or splash shield bolts use them...

Thanks,
Doug

The ones I see on top of the horn are for your fender and the trim piece that runs back under the hood latches. unless I am looking at the wrong holes in your picture.

The rear one is needed for your front fender rear hole. Both are used for '28-29 models when the later frame is "used for repairs" if I recall correctly.

I'm not talking about the third hole (a bit bigger than the other two) where the fender bolt goes. But I'm not familiar with the details of the 28-29 fenders, and I guess the holes could have been carried over into 30-31.

I was thinking there were three holes but couldn't see the top one in your pic until I went out to a car and saw that it's located over the fender bracket mount.

I stated in my first post - "Both are used for '28-29 models when the later frame is used for repairs". They made the parts backward compatible. Look at the top of the frame rail and you will see two sets of holes for the front hood latch. Obviously there is only one front hood latch per side, per car but the the location is different for '28-29 type sheet metal and '30-31 type. You can install any year sheet metal on that frame.
