Default snyders timing advance system

I got my new snyders catalog today and they have a timing advance system that you mount behind the valve cover and add a new distributor shaft says it gives 30 degree range with no other modifications. I am wondering if anyone used one of these or knows anything about them or if they are any good. they are listed for 175.00. They say you will never use the spark rod again, I'm thinking if it does work then I can use the spark rod for the turn signal control. Thanks for any help I really appreciate it.

I've got the Nu-Rex product and it works very well. They had quit making it for a while when their skilled machinist retired.

I got mine set up so that I have the option of giving it 3 or 4 clicks of extra retard if it starts to knock a bit when I'm in that awkward range between gears and pulling a grade or some such. Here's a picture of the little clamp I've got to stop me from over advancing but still have a bit of room to play.

My only issue with it is that if you pull the distributor, you hear this clunk as the thing collapses inside the valve chamber. You have to remove the valve cover (and oil filter in my case) to hook it back up. If I had it to do over again, I think I would go with a distributor with centrifugal advance built in the regular way.

Anyone have any infor on the Nu-Rex unit(snyder's p/n A-12176) for 81.50 that looks like it's externally mounted as opposed to the one under discussion that goes inside the oil chamber?? $95 difference if it does the same thing??

I have had about 3 of the NU REX originals and they are really nice and easy to install, make sure you ONLY Use the Link above on the Phillips to adjust it correctly. You will have a nice driving vehicle

We picked up the NuRex advance and will be conducting tests in the next couple of weeks. The review will be in the Model A Times Vol 8 Issue 3 Summer 2012.

Hmmm, that's an interesting item. It definitely doesn't do the same thing; the original item is a centrifugal advance unit; this seems to simulate a vacuum brake function to retard the spark under load. No mention in the instructions whether it can be used along with the centrifugal advance, but that would be a fun combo to tinker with.
