Model A Race.
Had this on the HAMB and thought some of you here might like to see it. A couple of buddies just purchased four 1931 Model A Coupes, got them running with a little coaxing, and decided to have some fun with them. I hope you enjoy the video. Here it is http://youtu.be/7-4hkDO_eEI

Re: Model A Race.
Nice way to spend an afternoon w/buddies. Wonder what the story is behind the four coupes?? Stock, some modifications, besides wheels/tires??

Re: Model A Race.
The cars were all completely stock with no real modifications of any kind. Four bangers pulled from an old man's sheds and yard. We actually "time trialed" them before we started the race, and found them all to be almost perfectly matched! Winning came down to "driver ability" and the jump off the line. I have to say, this was one of the best days I have had with an old car! Just the sight of the old gals running head to head made me smile like a kid again.

Re: Model A Race.
I hope the last three "A's" had air filters on their carb's .
That was great, sure look's like fun ,... But I don't think I would run my coupe that hard . Thanks for letting us see it. Whens the next race ? |

Re: Model A Race.
I raced my 36 PU on the beach at Dayton in the 70's. Anybody have some video or pictures of the drags that took place there during the Thanksgiving antique car show?

Re: Model A Race.
Stretch Cab, I don't but have been going to the Turkey Rod Run every year since 1984. That was the last year they had it at the high school on the beach and some of the guy's there then said that they used to race on the beach..... The next year it was held at the Embry Riddle college, and a few years after that at the infield, where it’s been held now for over 15 years.... good times. They used to have a vintage car show swap meet the same weekend (no hotrods) at the Ormond beach airport with a swap meet that was great! I don't think that they have that anymore..
