What do the experts say?

Got a bone stock 35 21 stud in final assembly stage and want to pole the engine guru's here on the barn as yeah....no, good/bad??


1) Torquing and re-torquing after heat cycles - An old racer/builder here in town told me when re torquing after heat cycling...slightly loosen the head nut and re-torque it each time, don't just throw the torque wrench on it and pull.


2) Stock Aluminum Head - Use copper coat spray or NO??


3) Water Outlet housing, water pumps, timing cover - Use permatex gasket seal on them or NO???


4) Is it best to slightly off set the break on the front seal on the timing cover and oil pan? ALSO should I use a little dab of silicone gasket on the breaks of the seal??


5) What is the torque on the crank pulley bolt?


Thanks in advance and I am sure I will think of one or two more along the way.

Here's how I do it.
1- Never loosen the nut. Check the torque in three steps just as its done at assembly.
2- Yes copper coat
3- A good quality blue, black or gray silicone sealer works perfectly.
4- No need to offset the rope seal at the timing cover however its important you don't shorten the rope seal lengths. Trim the oil pan gasket around the rope seal half's and next use silicone sealer around the outer edges of the rope seal only.
5 - Torque no more than 65 for the crank pulley bolt.

A person can also use silver spray paint since it has aluminum powder for pigment. Copper coat has copper powder for pigment.

I agree with this. I am not an "expert" or an "engine guru", but I can read a Galvanic Table.

Sorta a question BUT also from what I remember hearing about stock (Ford) aluminum heads......Isn't max torque on them 45Ft Lbs??? Preferably 40???
