Default Not ford need tool advise

You get what you pay for...ok I said it first.

Just did a rear brake & rotor job on wife's car. The rear rotors had two Phillips screws holding rotor on. Pulled out my new impact screw driver and after few sacks the head of the driver stripped before screw moved. I wound up drilling it out.

So please help and suggest a good replacement impact screw driver.

Thanks Andy

I have a DeWalt impact driver. It has served me well through an entire house gut and remodel inside and out. Go with any of the major brands and you will be fine.

Koken make probably the best. If you're looking for a manual one to hit with the hammer.

You didn't ask but the screws holding the rotors on don't need replacing. They were put there to help with assembly but aren't necessary.

Hi Everyone. Another example of ignorant car manufacturers not caring about maintenance issues. We see these all the time and break a bunch of bits with the hammer it out Snap-On hammer to twist tools.

On Benzes the bolt/screw has some threadlocker on it---blue colores, heat some with propane torch they come loose, don't heat and many times strip or break bit

when using the hammer type of impact it is best for bit life and stripping prevention the start hammering when it is in the middle "neutral" position, then slowly turn in the direction you want to go as you keep hitting-----this seats the bit good, and shocks the bolt/screw loosening the bond

after using several different ones the Snap on one has been best for me---when I first bought it the bit piecec were not garranteed----I saved the broken ones----then they started replacing broken ones

i have a couple of Apex bits, havn't broke one of those yet

When that bolt/screw is stuck and others have stripped it out on the benzez I just wack the rotor and break out that recess then go at it with vicegrips

If looking for a manual one, I have one that I will give you if you pay shipping. I'm bringing it out to Hershey for my $1 pile. If you are going out, let me know and I'll set it aside. Free for the taking.

Tim Ayers OBG 24-26. It's a good old one.
