Default Hood Side Panel Hardware - '38 Tonner

I have a ’38 Tonner and have just returned the fenders and the hood sides to the truck. I have all of the fasteners except for one fastener for the hood side panels. That is the rearmost fastener for the top of the hood side panel to the hood hinge. I’m including a couple of pictures of the passenger side hood panel and the hardware that was in there when I got the truck. Clearly that piece is something that someone made along the way from a piece of flat stock. What is that supposed to look like, and might I be able to find it somewhere, or is it a piece that I’ll need to make?
I’m also including a photo of the truck to date. More parts coming soon.

Fantastic looking truck. It deserves the correct mounting of the side panels. Basically you would want to flatten out those U shaped pieces. Then they get riveted to that rear hole in the panel. There is a tab at lower edge of hinge. This fits up to the second hole on your flattened out U shaped piece. Those hinges look like they are too far gone to repair. Look around for better ones with the tabs intact.

We just got through a thundershower here in eastern CT and it's too dark but tomorrow, if I have a couple of minutes before work I'll photo a NOS side panel and hinge that I have. You'll see how it goes together. Don't know what sort of fastener holds the panel to the hinge. I would use a short bolt with a nylon insert wing nut for easy removal. Same with the front tab.

My 39 dump truck in about 5 years behind that tonner. Got a long way to go but it's fun finding the little pieces that hold it all together. ML

Thank you for the compliments. I understand now that the piece I'm looking for actually was an integral part of the hood side originally similar to the front hardware which attached to the grill sides. That explains why I haven't seen it anywhere. I appreciate the info. Still would like to see what that is supposed to look like.

These are on my 39', without taking them off, I don't know if they
are a left and right. If you want a better photo I will remove one and
send a photo and dims.

I took a couple of pictures of what I'm working with. Since everything is shiny black, it's tough to see things clearly. The pictures that were posted by ford35lh certainly look like what I need to fabricate.

Here's my '38 1/2 T that may be a little easier to see. Not sure they are all the same through the 1/2 T's and larger trucks.

Finally got some photos of my NOS side panel. Shows riveted attachment tabs. The fifth photo is my wreck of a 39 Dump truck. I'm fitting 40/41 NOS fenders. Slightly different than the 39's but they will work. Will be interesting. ML

Thank you. All of the pictures of the rear attachment tabs helped a great deal. I fashioned a pair based on what I've seen and what I have to work with, and all is well. What I had with the fenders originally would never have worked and was terribly misleading. That '39 dump nose and cab are all too familiar.
