Re: Harbor Freight spray gun?
A few years ago I used a spray gun similar to that sold by Harbour Freight for $9.95. Mine came from Princess Auto a Canadian company but looks identical. I used it to paint my daughter's Suzuki Samurai and my 1972 Chevrolet pick up. The Samurai worked out great, but the larger surface area of the pick up challenged the capacity of the small gun to keep the working area wet enough. It suffered significant orange peel. Nothing that too many hours of colour sanding did not fix. If you use a cheap gun, be prepared for extra work.

Re: Harbor Freight spray gun?
Another perspective. Don't waste your money on the newer "professional" gun from HF. It is the shiney nickel plated one, about $49. It has nothing over the $10 gun as to performance.

Re: Harbor Freight spray gun?
Ian, This is part of the reason I bought their aluminum large capacity "Tank" (Where you put the paint) for $15. Yeah it doubled the price of the gun, but it doubled the usefulness also. Plus it has a hard plastic cap with only three locking lugs and that alone makes it worth the money.

Re: Harbor Freight spray gun?
I've done 3 full paint jobs with the HF HVLP Gravity fed guns. My opinion is #1 body and prep work make a huge difference in the final outcome and #2 If the underlying work is good, then the paint will look top notch after a little color sanding. Can't beat that price.
