Original Windwings?
So I bought a very nice pair of what I think are original windwings. They have black edges so they have to have been made after October 1930 according to the judging standards. Now the odd part is that the trademark on the glass does not appear in my copy of the judging standards. Here are some pictures. Can anybody shed some light? Does the 7 and 36 mean it is replacement stock from 1936?

Re: Original Windwings?
I believe those are Sanders' reproduction glass, aren't they?? It looks like their edging.
Can you tell if the logo etching is in the plastic between the two panes of glass, --or is it etched onto the surface of one pane?? |

Synchro
That's just a logo that was put on them. Albeit similar to original Not actually how old they are They are Sanders repo.....don't think they repo'd Them in '36 So that date I think is irrelevant..... |

Re: Original Windwings?
Bill, that is true. Even if they were originally manufactured in 1936, the 'bug' would also be on the plastic laminate that is sandwiched between the two plates of glass and not on the outside of the glass.
FWIW, wasn't it your original Victoria that had the logo upside down inside the glass? |

Brent
It wasn't mine with upside down bug Vickie Moore (David's widow)still owns that car. Vince has it featured on 4ever4 site I replaced the glass before David bought it as the glass was broken, delaminating and coming apart....unsafe I was able to get the laminate and the bug! |

Re: Original Windwings?
Are the edges of the glass painted? How should I clean them?

Re: Original Windwings?
OK, gotcha. We have not even heard of Sanders over here so I'm at a disadvantage.

Re: Original Windwings?
Yes, they mechanically score the glass at the lamination part to remove a portion of the plastic filler. Then the void is filled with epoxy to replicate the original sealer.

Re: Original Windwings?
Would general windex be good for cleaning them or would it eat away at the epoxy?

I could not say. I would call out to Sanders ( https://www.sandersreproglass.com/ ) and ask them for their recommendations. |
