1934 Ford Pickup Radiator
Working on restoring my Grandfathers 1934 Ford Pickup and the radiator shop just tested the original radiator. Its no good and wouldn't even hold if they attempted to fixed it. Any recommendations on where to buy a new radiator for this truck?

Re: 1934 Ford Pickup Radiator
Can they re-core it? If not I always prefer NOS or original service replacement stock.

Check with Michael at thirdgenauto.com as he had a NOS one, at least he did awhile ago.

If your tanks are good you can recore it. The chore will be finding someone to do it.

Note: angle of top tank can be altered-as incorrect. Make a ridget templet of the tank angle to the core, and insist on correctness in any reassembly. Will affect you grill fit. Newc

Another vote for Johnson. Brassworks is good at replicating the original radiator but they are more expensive with a longer lead time.

Had my radiator recored @ a local shop by me. Works and fits just fine. That was 13 years ago and no problems.

Do you need one for a 4 cylinder or V8?

Re: 1934 Ford Pickup Radiator
We probably have a half dozen or so radiators for '34 trucks/ pickups, but I'm sure they all need to get re-cored.

1. There is no listing for a truck radiator on their website, just a car. You can remove your OE brackets and affix them to that radiator we just don't know why you'd want to. 2. The Johnson radiator core is a serpentine construction. This far more profitable to manufacture. The Brassworks core matches Ford's design with a more elliptical tube and higher fin density. The structure has a longer life. 3. I see a flat header in the images online on so you'll probably have to move to a smaller fan for the OE engine. You won't have to do that with the Brassworks because there is a fan pocket like Fords 4. Brassworks does have a lead time that is a little longer and is always hiring to remedy it. 5. Brassworks does NOT cost more than a Johnson Radiator works and was passed in price by Walker several years ago. All of that being said, The Brassworks will price match this radiator if you want. |
