I have had State Farm ins on my old clunks for many years and have never heard of the issue you talk about here ? The policies on the old clunks are no different than my new pickup other than the agreed value . Way cheaper than the old car " specialists " quoted me and storage coverage is under $35 per 6 mo on a $20,000 car . Last time this mess came up it boiled down to where you live { WI } as coverage is different in different states . Kinda turns this subject into another " oil " question .

JC Taylor ...never again!...I had my 40 PU insured with them 19 years and no claims. I sold my PU 6 mos. before if put my 36 Cabriolet on the road and they declined me?? So I called and inquired ...was told their underwriter declined the app. I ASKED TO BE RECONCIDERED since my 40 Ford PU was Insured by them for 19 years without a claim. They didnt care! Grundy must have cared & they were an little cheaper too ,so all is good with them.

To upset me even more JC Taylor has been featuring a 36 Cabriolet in ads! Like Whut?

Maybe we should ask the gubbament to take over the antique car insurance for us? That might be something we could promote with our congressmen and senators. Then we wouldn't have to make a decision on this issue. (No way - Never, never, never).

Hagerty also. A friend of mine had a Torino & his daughter totaled it, they paid him the agreed amount plus let him keep the car.

Insurance can be turned down due to driver receiving undesirable traffic tickets.

Same here. Had Hagerty. Condon Skelly has better rates for me and a local representative.

My new policy just came today from J.C.Taylor and is sitting in front of me. Have been with them 30 years with only claims coming from hurricane Charlie in 2006 when several cars had damage. Adjuster came, we agreed on the repair prices and they sent a check. I have 35 cars and 2 closed trailers insured for $3,040.00 per year. Been the same for over 10 years. If you have any problems contact the owner Bob Wallace and he gets them straightened fast. G.M.

On October 29, 2008 my 54 Chevy custom caught fire, insured by Hagerty. Also had Hagerty insuring my 69 ElCamino. Claim was filed right away. It wasnt settled til January 2009. One delay after another, holidays, adjuster out of town, blah, blah, blah. After that I switched to Grundy and saved half on the insurance for the ElCamino for the same coverage amount. Sold the the Elky to buy my 40 Ford and still with Grundy, very happy with them.

Just before Christmas, my Dad got pulled over by the local PD... Turned out he was the only driver going at a reasonable rate in a remarkably long time... The ticket took the form of a certificate that could be exchanged for a ham...

He was still pissed

off topic...sorry

Karl "He was still pissed." NICE.

G.M. Well Played and thanks very much. "I have 35 cars and 2 closed trailers."

"Been the same for over 10 years." Shouldn't we all review things yearly? I'm with Grundy now, but I need to be vigilant, and should be able to shift.

I got Taylor to cut the rates WAY down 10 years ago and I'm sure they are still low and I'm happy with their service . G.M.
