Emergency brake actuating lever problem
I'll try to explain my problem one more time. I'm trying to put the emergency brake actuating lever on the shaft that comes through the backing plate. As received assembled from Snyder's, the keyway for the woodruff key is at the bottom, but the slot in the actuating lever is at the top when the lever is positioned beside the service brake lever
If I put the actuating lever in the upright position, the key ends up in the space above the bolt that holds the lever onto the shaft . What am I doing wrong? |

Re: Emergency brake actuating lever problem
Brattons have some good assembly diagrams on their page.

Re: Emergency brake actuating lever problem
If memory serves, the levers are not interchangeable side for side (i.e. passenger vs drivers). May be check that.

Re: Emergency brake actuating lever problem
It's not just the levers that are not interchangeable, the whole parking brake assembly is not interchangeable from side to side. I think you have them switched side to side and installed upside down. Check the assembly diagram on Bratton's (link above) The wide spot on the carrier where the gap in the brake band sits should be to the rear of the car at about the 1 o'clock position on the drivers side and the 11 o'clock position on the passenger side. That will put the woodruff key on the shaft back at the top to match the lever.
