Default ?disconnect gas pedal from linkage?

Hopefully an easy one. I went to the search and found nothing. "35 How do you disconnect the gas pedal from the rest of the accelerator linkage ( just before it goes through the fire wall ). Looks like some kind of spring loaded setup. It's in good shape so I don't want to maniac it. The bolt to the floor pan was no prob but I can't figure out how to take it off the linkage as I want to remove the floor pan along with the trans access pan and the wood floor board on the passenger side to refurbish. I got the center trans access panel off and the passenger off but cant get the drive side pan off till I get the gas pedal removed?
Thx

The spring is attached to a metal pin, it is pressed into the rubber on the pedal, maybe a Lil pb blaster and a twisting motion back in forth, the springs is available from macs I think that where mine came from as well as a new pedal, to put the pins ball ( you'll see what I mean when you get it off the pedal, I took a lil soap lubed the ball up and then stuck the pin in a nut driver and pushed it back in the socket. Hope this helps

Hi Thaplumbr, I was fixed on the aluminum connector closer to the firewall thinking the thinner rod connected to the pedal was part of the pedal set up.You'r indicating it's just a pressed pin going vertically through the rubber on the pedal which also goes through the metal linkage attaching it to the pedal all inside the rubber? Sorry I'm so dense.
Thx

The accelerator arm that come thru the firewall to the petal has a spring attached to it,that spring can be twisted on and off, I had to replace mine on my truck, the metal pin that is attached to the spring and the actual gas pedal itself is a pressed fit in a socket on the back of the pedal itself!! Hope that's a little clearer,btw... Noticed on your profile your a cigar lover also!!
