Default Lifting a Model A

Another example of the wrong way to put a Model A on a lift!

especially when it is so obvious that the proper way is to use the running boards..

(Note for those unfamiliar with sarcasm..... don't use the running boards!)

(isn't it sad that I felt compelled to put that in here?)

good thing you said something----I was just pushing the floor jack under the running board---whew-that was close. Instead I used the muffler like some one else said years ago

Make sure that you replace the muffler bearings while you have it up.

Would have been a good car before it was jacked up.

Don't think it'll be a 100-point car with bends in the rear radius rods! Was beautiful "before."

I went to the linked auction expecting it to be really difficult to see the problem. It wasn't difficult.

All they down at the bottom of the ad is the following comment

" About Us

I think you took that out of context. You are supposed to put the floor jack under the muffler to hold it snug while attaching the exhaust pipe clamps. Just remember to stop before the car gets off of the ground.

lifting the car on the rear arms as shown did not bend them. even though they are rolled steel the car is not heavy enough to do harm. yes i agree its the wrong place for a lifting point, another issue lifting it that way is it can slide off easier but i have seen it done before.

Here is a response from the seller on e-bay.

We are experienced that's why we can do it like that, our lift can stagger the arms height. A model a is super light in the back end in the first place then you use the lift arms to shift the cars center of gravity to the front of the vehicle so you have almost no weight on the rear of the car. Your the second person that's asked so I am including photos of the rear arms to let you know no rear arms were hurt in the process of lifting this Model A. I have photo as well of the car on one of our drive on lifts I will switch the ebay photos to them during the day.

Dear florida_auto,

You would think someone with the experience it "looks " like you have , would know better than to pick up a car like this by the radius rods . Good luck selling .

How come they stand behind their jacking process and yet the images they had on the ad prior are now removed from the auction ad?
