Rumor that they are going out of business the end of the year! Anyone else heard that?

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
Does that jeopardise the availability of his insert rod beatings?

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
I have been wondering that too - will he continue to make them? Should have asked him a few weeks ago.

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
Rich's parts business is a separate thing, He is actively trying to sell that now..

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
Let me get this straight. So the rods and bearings sold by the likes of Snyders are made by Rich and is he the maker of the main bearing inserts for the likes of the Burlington or Scat crank shafts?
If yes to the above, I assume I can buy direct from him. Yes/no?

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
You’d think Snyder’s or Bert’s would pick it up if not overpriced.
I’ve had numerous situations but the numbers just absolutely sucked. The ROI was just no where close |

Thanks Mike. I'll get up early (I hate that!) and ring him soon.

Previously if you wanted a Burlington crank in a rebuilt engine for us here in OZ it was probably worth just getting a rebuilt short block with hi comp head, Stipe cam and lightened flywheel all shipped by sea. Down left on the website are the parts. Probably best to go with a new engine now tho ... |

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
SYNCHRO, I have Snyders rods and inserts in my roadster. They are not from AER. The inserts have side thrust walls, imitating the original Ford rod Babbitt. AER inserts do not.
I don't know if this is a good thing or not, since most common modern shells do not incorporate side thrusts. SAJ in NZ |

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
Synchro I was referring to the conrod insert shells 9 which have 2 side thrust faces moulded in to each one. Not crankshaft end thrust babbit replaced by bronze thrust washers.

Re: Antique Engine Rebuilding
Rich was at Gilmore/Hickory Corners two weeks ago at the Model A Ford Museum. He had the new buyer with him and he was introducing him to folks there. The buyer runs a machine shop in Blufton, Indiana, just south of Ft. Wayne. I'm not sure of the timing on all of this. The small parts is a separate business and is for sale.
