Re: eddey meyer heads
I have a set of Don's heads and matching inlet on my early 21 stud. Can't recommend his parts, or the man himself, highly enough.

Re: eddey meyer heads
Sorry Greg [fairlane500], no idea of price, however, all 21 stud specific speed gear, ie, heads, is pricey, including Orosco's repops. However, I have a pair of Orosco's E.M. 21 stud heads on my motor, and they work very well. Beauty with function. Admittedly I have reworked the combustion chambers to suit my motor, but in my opinion, the best feature of those particular heads is the relocated spark plug location. Clear of both valves, it allows the use of extended reach plugs [although I'm not running that particular style], and therefore higher lift camshaft. One of the best things I have done for that motor. Brian

Re: eddey meyer heads
Brian what cam are you using? What com ratio do you estimate and what block did you start off with? I have just located an LB 36 block that I may go down the performance road with but only if I can be sure that it will have some reliability as well.
I think the orosco heads wood be a great place to start and i have just begun a thread asking for advice with building a performance 21 studder. Dan. i |

Re: eddey meyer heads
I bought mine from Don last year, heads were $1025 and the inlet was $825.
Not cheap I admit but they are beautiful items plus they work. I was running consistent 20.4 second quarters with stock heads and inlet, a change to the Meyer equipment dropped that down to a 19.1 with no other changes. Have since run a 17.8. I had a bit of a scare as I didn't order heads for flat top pistons, Don does them for both flat tops and domed slugs, I gave him a call and he said it would be fine except I wouldn't get the quoted increase in compression ratio. Stock I believe is 5.5:1 or 6.3:1 if you have factory aluminium heads. Don's bump that up to around 8.2:1 but with flat tops this drops to around 7.2:1 Still a decent increase plus I have the option of fitting domed pistons in the future. |

Re: eddey meyer heads
Yup, just ordered my set. Don is just a great guy to deal with. Very conscientious and particular about his parts. That price estimate is dead on. Can't wait to get them onto the pickup.

Re: eddey meyer heads
I bought a set of Orosco's Eddie Meyer repro 21 stud domed piston heads and may also get the 2x2 intake. Heads are beautiful! I sent him an email about his product line and he had his secretary email me a copy of his catalog that includes prices. He also has Eddie Meyer 24 stud early and late style, center outlet heads (pre 8ba), ORD 24 stud (PRE-WWII) heads and Smith 2-piece 24 stud external water log heads. Plus lots of other nice FH components that he is reproducing.
