Default Grease seal removel

I need to replace the grease seal in the drivers side of the axel housing and was wodering if there is a way to get the old one out and the new one in. I was thinking about a piece of pipe with a large washer on the end. Or do I have to buy the the driver tool?

The driver I have is just a pipe nipple that fits the i.d. of the seal with a washer of the right size to fit over the nipple and o.d. to match the seal welded to the nipple. Screw a piece of pipe the proper length in it and it works great.
