Model A engine removed
I just pulled the engine off my 31 CCPU and dropped it off at J&M to have rebuilt. I am wondering what would be the best repairs to make with the engine removed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Check the front motor mount and the flywheel housing for cracks.

Check the clutch and brake petal shaft and bushings for wear. If the petal shaft needs replaced now is the time to do it.

Re: Model A engine removed
Thanks everyone. The input is spot on. The flywheel housing is cracked, the u-joint is sloppy, the clutch and brake pedal shaft is in bad shape and I'm rebuilding the tranny.
I was thinking more about from the u-joint back, i.e. the driveshaft and rear end. Any simple repair/replace maintenance I could do? Thanks |

Re: Model A engine removed
Have you rebuilt your front end, looked at your springs, this could be a good time.
You now have a big opening to help the work and a lot of weight removed. |

Re: Model A engine removed
From what I have read about the condition of the parts you have talked about I think you will need a new pressure plate and clutch disc. Also through out bearing and pilot bearing in the fly wheel. Check the clutch disc surface on the flywheel it may need to be surfaced. Check condition of wishbone radius rod ball asy. It is easy to change the bolts on that at this time.

Re: Model A engine removed
I would take this opportunity if you are having any transmission issues to have a complete overhaul while you have the engine removed. I did this and I am very very glad.
