I can't believe the seller is asking 50 bucks for that magnet. He must think he has something really rare. As indicated above, that magnet is part of the magneto attached to the Model T flywheel. They are quite reliable.

That was my thought also the first time I worked on my friend's 1914 Model T, but once I got the car started and tuned up I found it starts very easily on just the magneto.

Most Ts start very well on the mag , assuming the magnets are charged up. Driving down the street switching to mag from battery you can feel the power difference based on the mags higher voltage to the coils....
The magnets can actually be charged on the car using some jumper cables and a battery, they seem to last forever.....

On a Model A, you're supposed to JUST PULL UP, on the crank.---I "hear" that on a Model T, it's "safe" to SPIN the crank????

Bill dunno about safe, But it was common knowledge, when cold with cold oil dragging on everything, typically the multi-clutch ,one would jack up one rear wheel and release the handbrake so it was in high gear.

Then spin the engine using the whole engine/gearbox/driveshaft/diff and wheels as an extra flywheel weight.

If it fell off the jack when it started , you were in deep doo doo.

Pooch,
On MODEL As/OLD CHEVYS/ETC, I've cranked them, using the rear wheel, it's SCARY, but it WORKS---Be sure you're wearing DEPENDS
