Default Value of original 1930-31 Radiator

I looked at a ROUGH 1930 A Coupe today. Too rough to even Hot Rod but parts is parts. I'm thinking an original 30-31 radiator with the proper fins must be worth something. What are they worth on your area? If i can make the numbers work I may get it and part the thing out at Hershey.

I've seen lots of original dimpled fin radiators. I'm running one on my speedster. I've got a few untested dimpled fin radiators that I bought at swap meets for fifty dollars each that look good. I saw one at a model A swap meet in Georgia in 99, the guy wanted four hundred dollars for it but didn't know whether it leaked or not. He said it was for a show car. I didn't want it for that price. I would prefer a new heavy duty radiator on a car that I planned to drive a lot, any day!!!

Maybe $300, but straight fins are only part of the equation.

Right, Purdy. I meant in a general sense, straight and in good condition, as opposed to whacked, split, missing and bent.

I have no doubt that the recored Berg radiators are good. I don't think that they have dimpled fins that would count in national judgeing.

the radiator on my car came from Cal... $650.00 +shipping . mint i have a second one $600.00 near mint with a little leak [sucks to be me on that deal] l.o.l. So if you look at the price of a new Show radiator ,,,first thing i would do is to check out the radiator and take it from there . If its straight , show ,no leaks $600.00+ no leaks but nice $450.00 ...leaks needs a core and top and bottom tanks and sides are nice $125.00 but that's my take on the matter.. Does anyone know without calling BERG if they do pickups at Hershey .I like to have my small leak looked at... and fixed ..thanks

Thanks for all the additional info, these 'Show Car' prices are what I was hoping for. I did a very quick look at the project, may go back and check the details more closely. Would a straight no pits hood bring $200.+ ? Bob

Last year at Hershey I bought a 30 Berg radiator and sold him my old one which had good tanks and a bad core. I had it set up before Hershey so I saved myself a lot of shipping. His supply of radiators at Hershey do not last. If you want one be sure to have him bring one for you.

I bought my 28-9 core from Gary Bergbower at Hershey about 10 years ago. I had to wait until the end of the last day to pick it up because it was Gary's last one and his demo for the show.

The new brassworks almost show radiator with 6 hand dimpled fins per inch is $650.00 in Brattons catalog. This is ALMOST SHOW and probably wouldn't get full points. I figure why bother. If it doesn't get full points, why not just get the heavy duty radiator that cools better and only costs $585.00 and has no dimples ? A used radiator for a driver wouldn't be worth much to me. If an original was obviously patched ,repaired or recored. it wouldn't get full points either.
