Default Removing front motor mount

Hi,

The front motor mount on my 1930 coupe is missing all the springs and spring plate. I have the parts and am trying to remove the mount in order to make it right. Is it possible to remove the mount without taking the crank pulley off? I am following Les Andrews Vol 1 and it makes no reference other than removing the belt. Seems to be no way to get around the pulley?

Thanks,
Jerry

Yes you can. you do not need to remove the pulley. Remove the top rad hose . Next remove the top bolt at the rear motor mount on each side .These are the pair each side which bolt into the flywheel housing . you MUST do this . Put a jack under the front of the motor pan and jack the front of the motor up just enough to get enough room to remove the front mount . Removing the top rear motor mount bolt each side allows the motor to tip back easily without stressing the flywheel housing ,if you leave all 4 bolts in you will crack the flywheel housing for sure .

Thanks. I got it out and back in with the right hardware. I had to get over jacking the engine up farther than I was comfortable. I also loosened the radiator and kicked the bottom out for more clearance. The rear mounts have only the top bolts in the flywheel housing from the previous owner. I see no bottom hole in the flywheel housing on the right side. I assume the bolt is broken off. Tomorrows project.
