I saw that show also he was talking about stainless steel nuts and bolts having a very high probability of galling when you put them together. never sieze or malox? helps to avoid this! I dont think either would be much of a thread sealant.I am in the boat business here in florida, I could retire if I had a nickle for every stainless bolt I saw ruined by some guy in a hurry who was too lazy to put some gisum on the threads first!

"Maalox" works just like "neverseize" "neversieze" and thread sealant are two different cats. Two different applications. Ronnie |

Permatex #2 or Aviation Permatex. Are you using bolts (cap screws) or studs and nuts? When I use studs I use the non hardening permatex on threads going into the deck, as mentioned, plus some never sieze on the non threaded areas of the studs. Makes the heads much easier to remove. JMO

Re: Sealing head bolts into block
well that explains the problem i've been having with my butt, i have it backwards, maalox belongs in the garege and i should be drinking permatex, butt only the non-hardening kind. See, I'm never too old to learn something new.
