Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Never a dull moment, here in the Play Room aka Garage
It's possible that some of you may have caught a glimpse of our '49 Lincoln Cosmopolitan in some of the other garage photos I've posted. Well, the Cosmo has been sitting waiting patiently for us to get around to her, until today that is... She must have been feeling lonely and wanting some attention because; at lunch time she presented me with a flat tire... The left rear was loosing air and I didn't want to have the whitewall get damaged so, I inflated the tire enough to get a bottle jack under the frame. I pulled the hub cap and attempted to remove the lug nuts... The nuts were rusted tight so, I soaked them with some rust solvent. The compressor just could not get the nuts to break loose so, I got the four foot long breaker bar, slid it over the end of a ratchet and got each nut loose. Now I'm going down to the local Firestone Tire Store to get the flat fixed... Like I said… never a dull moment.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
It's almost lunch time so... I mounted the newly inflated tire along with the hub cap and skirt on the '49 Cosmo... Hopefully the tire will continue to hold air under the weight of the car... Pay no attention to the house construction remnants under the car.

Vic, I've seen that car in person and it will be one sweet ride when its turn comes on Saturdays and it becomes roadworthy!

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Vic, You're SOL. Too late!! with a picture in post triple6s, it will become "possessed". That is if you believe in that sort of thing.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Chuck, I've always been SOL no matter what... I believe that our '51 F-1 is possessed with demons, mostly of the transmission and electrical type... I have successfully exorcised the electrical demons so, next is the transmission transplant... we'll see... Maybe I should call it the Blair Witch project...

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Bob, glad you enjoyed it. I've got plenty to work on, in fact, Mike and I just finished bleeding the brakes on the ’39 LZ so, we'll keep things going.
Thanks, Vic

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
Here's a tech update with some friends included. Mike came over this morning and we bled the brakes on the '39 LZ and took her for a ride. On the way back to the garage we stopped for Pizza!!! Later this afternoon a friend of mind from Long Island (now living in Florida) drove over in his '36 Roadster with a surprise guest. My friend, and fellow LIRG member, Wayne D. I have not seen Wayne in over twenty years. We had a great visit and went for a ride in the Zephyr... I'm so happy that the Zephyr is performing well beyond my expectations that I'll use any excuse to take her for a drive. Here's a photo of Keith on the left & Wayne on the right.

Re: What I Did on My Lunch Hour
This morning I got a phone call from the mechanic who works on our newer cars/trucks, you know, the kind you need a computer to mess with... Well, another customer of his just bought several cars at the Mecum auction over near Orlando. One of the cars is a '47 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet (see photos).
The mechanic told me they were having trouble getting the car to start and keep it running. He asked me if I would be interested in going through the car and getting it to run, etc. I went down to his shop to take a look at the car, it would make an excellent driver (which apparently is what the new owner wanted it for). I asked the guys at the shop to change the oil (most likely there's gas in it... from what they told me they were doing to try and get it to run) and call me so I could go down and help them troubleshoot the problem or problems. I told them I'd be happy to drive it to my garage and mess with it over the weekend...
