Default 1929 Pop-Out Ignition

Morning guys/gals:
I have purchased a restored "Pop-Out" Ignition switch (Complete) from Bert's over in Colorado.

My question to the 'Barn' is 'Darla' currently has just a key-switch to turn her on/off. How difficult will it be to put her back to 'Original' with the pop-out. Haven't ever seen one in person so I do not know how they operate.

Looking forward to getting her back out on the roads with the 5 new tires, and new wiring harness installed and see how the 'Original' headlights look instead of the crazy sealed-beam ones the previous owner installed.

Thanks!

Dave

Utilizing the MAFCA Wiring PDF should have all the info needed. Be sure you have the type appropriate to the year model of model A you have. There was a slight difference in length of the armored cable. 28/29 has a different cowl than the 1930/31 so this was the reason.

There is also a service bulletin that changed the power hook up from the terminal box to the coil power terminal. It can be connected to either terminal in the box but connecting it to the load side (yellow with black tracer) gives an indication on the amp meter during start cycles that can be used to troubleshoot possible problems.

Excellent, thank you Rotor. I do have the diagram from Snyders so all this will be helpful.

I've heard others complain about the look of sealed-beam headlights, but i don't understand it. My '31 CCPU has sealed beam headlights installed by PO and they don't look any different that stock healights, being that they're hidden behind the original flat glass lens. On has to look close to see that they're sealed-beam.

On Darla, it looked like she had 'bulging' eyes. Just didn't look period correct.

Pics are before and after.

Now I understand what bulging sealed-beams look like, as I said previously on mine they are hidden behind the original flat lens.
